An Angel Brushed My Shoulder Poem Verses
An angel at my shoulder heard
The whisper of goodbye,
Offering eternity as life slipped silent by.
So peacefully it seemed in sleep
You yielded to the love
That reached across my shoulder
To lift you high above.
But still, you are beside me,
And with certainty, I know
The hands I can no longer hold
Will guide me as I go.
For in that fleeting moment,
At the touch of Heaven's embrace,
As one angel brushed my shoulder,
Another took its place.

This poem seems to be about the loss of a loved one, and the belief that they are still with the speaker in spirit. The speaker describes an angel at their shoulder who hears the loved one's "whisper of goodbye," and offers them "eternity" as their life slips away. Although the loved one has passed on, the speaker believes that they are still with them in spirit, guiding them through life. The final lines suggest that although one angel brushed the speaker's shoulder as the loved one passed on, another has taken its place, perhaps symbolizing the continued presence of the loved one's spirit in the speaker's life. The poem seems to offer comfort to those who have lost someone dear, assuring them that their loved one is still with them in some way.
This poem is structured in four stanzas, each consisting of four lines. The poem expresses the idea of a loved one passing away and the comfort that the speaker finds in the thought that the departed is still with them as an angel, guiding them in life. The poem uses metaphors to convey the concept of the angel brushing the speaker's shoulder as a symbol of the loved one's continuing presence. The language is emotive and gentle, with a peaceful tone that captures the idea of a serene transition from life to the afterlife.
